Water damage isn't always obvious at first glance
It's a good thing these customers in Seaside knew their washing machine had leaked or it might have been a while before they noticed, because you couldn't see the water staining until after the floor planking had been removed (as you can see here). That’s why SERVPRO of Clatsop, Columbia counties has multiple different tools to help find all that hidden damage. We employ a surface meter, which can read if different types of building materials have an elevated moisture content. A penetrating meter is used to stab small needles into wood framing and flooring to check moisture levels, and sometimes we even bust out the thermal imaging camera to quickly survey the extent of the damage using a heat map.
